Acne
Acne is caused by the body’s increased production of the androgen hormone which
stimulates the sebaceous glands to produce more oil. This increased production of oil
causes the pores to become blocked, so that the oil cannot come to the skin surface.
The acne itself is an infection caused by skin bacteria that feed on and breakdown this
oil. The Ellipse IPL treatment filters the light to target the haemoglobin in the fine blood
vessels that supply the sebaceous glands slowing down the overproduction of oil that
leads to acne.
The Ellipse acne treatment is a combination therapy working in conjunction with an
adapalene cream or gel which reduces the inflammation caused by acne.
